Vanilla (WASC) Cake
If you love to doctor up boxed cake mixes, then chances are you've heard of White Almond Sour Cream cakes - otherwise known as WASC cakes. WASC cake is a formula that involves adding sour cream to your boxed cake mix (along with a few other ingredients), and what you end up with is a moist, delicious fluffy cake that tastes like it was made from scratch! It is amazing!!
To begin this recipe, pour 1 box Duncan Hines French Vanilla or White cake mix into a large mixing bowl.
Next, add 1 cup of all purpose flour.
Pour in 1 cup of granulated sugar.
Next, add 3/4 teaspoon of salt to the mixing bowl.
Using a wire whisk, stir together ingredients and fluff the mixture. Break up any clumps. Set bowl aside.
In a separate smaller bowl, add 3 whole large eggs.
Add 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil.
Next, add 1 cup of full fat sour cream to the bowl.
Add 2 teaspoons of pure vanilla extract.
And finally, add 1 1/3 cups of water to the bowl.
Use a wire whisk to gently mix all of the wet ingredients together.
Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients bowl.
Blend all ingredients together using an electric mixer. Be careful not to over mix the batter.
For cupcakes, bake at 350 degrees until done. For cakes, bake at 335 degrees F for a more level cake (or 350 degrees F if you prefer the cake bake faster), until done. And that's how you make this super delicious and moist vanilla WASC cake! I hope you have enjoyed this tutorial! God bless!!
