Rice Trick - Grease-free Cupcake Liners

Are you tired of purchasing beautiful cupcake liners only to have them come out of the oven with splotchy grease marks on them? Well, there is a neat trick that's spreading all throughout the cake decorating community that helps prevent these unsightly grease marks! And the simple trick only requires a little white rice! This trick is not my own, but I wanted to give it a try to see if it really helped! Some bakers have had success, others have not, and I wanted to figure out what bits of information are necessary to make this trick successful for everyone. What I noticed was there wasn't a guideline for how much rice to use, so some bakers were using too little rice and still ending up with grease marks. So I've figured out the proper amount to use to make this a no-fail trick for everyone!
*PLEASE NOTE: I am using a standard size cupcake pan.

To begin, add a heaping teaspoon of white rice (regular, not instant) to each cup in the cupcake pan.

Next, evenly spread the rice so there is a nice even layer. If your cup has uncovered spots (like the one to the right in the photo), add a little more rice to achieve a nice evenly covered space.

Place cupcake liners in the cups over the rice. Liners will sit slightly out of the cup. Fill liners with cupcake batter and bake according to recipe instructions.

The rice in the pan absorbs the excess oil and leaves the liner pretty and grease-free!! How cool is that?!
