Orange Creamsicle Cake

If you LOVE the flavor of orange creamsicle pops as much as I do, then I have just the cake recipe for you! This cake is the flavor twin of the delicious frozen dessert! If you're looking for a cake recipe that tastes exactly like an orange creamsicle, look no further! You will not be disappointed!!

To begin this recipe, pour 1 box (16.5 ounce) of Duncan Hines Supreme Orange cake mix to a large mixing bowl.

Next, add 1 cup of all purpose flour to the bowl.

Add 1 cup of granulated sugar.

Next, add 3/4 teaspoon of salt.

Using a wire whisk, blend dry ingredients together and break up any clumps. Set bowl aside.

In a small mixing bowl, add 3 whole large eggs.

Add 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil to the bowl.

Add 1 cup of full fat sour cream to the bowl.

Next, add a little less than 1/4 teaspoon of LorAnn Oils Natural Orange flavor to the bowl.

Note: LorAnn Oils are intense candy flavorings that can be found in the candy making section of most cake supply stores. I purchase mine at Michaels Craft store or my local cake decorating store.

Add 1/2 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract to the bowl.

Add 1 1/3 cups of water to the bowl.

Next, use a wire whisk to gently mix the wet ingredients together.

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients bowl.

Using an electric mixer, blend all ingredients together. Add orange food color for a more intense orange colored cake, if desired. Be sure not to over mix the batter.

For cupcakes, bake at 350 degrees until done.

For cakes, bake at 330 degrees, until done.
