Hi Cake Friends!

I have a new recipe for those of you who love the cooked flour Whipped Buttercream recipes! I officially call this type of recipe "the buttercream for those who don't like frosting" :). I have several relatives and friends who do not like the traditional American-style sweet powdered sugar frostings, and these whipped buttercreams are the only types of frostings they'll eat! They're light and fluffy with a texture that it similar to mousse! They may not be the best by themselves, but pair it with cake or cupcakes, and it's AMAZING! Pile it a mile high on top of a cupcake and you won't be overcome by a mouthful of powdered sugar sweetness. I hope you enjoy!!

How To Turn Yellow Cake Mix Into Chocolate Mix

Hi Cake Friends!

So I ran into a little problem while creating my latest cake.... I was out of chocolate cake mix!! Oopsie! It was too late to run out to the store to pick up a box, so I had to look around to see what I had to work with. I found a box of Duncan Hines Yellow mix, a box of chocolate pudding, and some Hershey's cocoa! And with these ingredients I was able to make a delicious moist chocolaty cake! And I wanted to share this recipe with you guys just in case you ever find yourselves in this same situation :)

How I Pasteurize Raw Flour

For those of you in the U.S., you may be aware of the massive flour recall. And if you've been wondering what to do to make recipes such as Cookie Dough Frosting a little safer, well, I'm going to share the method I use to pasteurize raw flour at home. I also have included several links to articles on the FDA's website to help provide as much helpful information as possible. And please understand that this is for informational purposes ONLY! If you decide to try this method out yourself, you will be doing so at your own risk!! Many factors play into how successful or unsuccessful this method will be (such as type of microwave used, amount of flour, etc), and results will vary! E.coli is potentially deadly, and therefore consuming any raw flour (even after pasteurizing) has the potential to cause life-threatening illness! Use this information at your own risk. Also, raw cookie dough treats should never contain raw eggs!!

And today I have one of those neat tricks to share with you! Invisible ink that is totally edible, paints clear on your cake, but glows bright blue under a black light! How neat is that?! Hi Cake Friends!!

It is surely hot and humid outside! And this time of year gets me daydreaming about fall! The kids and I spent part of the day yesterday pretending fall was coming. We cuddled on the couch and watched "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" and popped popcorn. It was a great afternoon! And yesterday's movie gave me the inspiration for today's cake tutorial!
