Ingredients:
1 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup water
1/3 cup light corn syrup
Shortening for greasing
This recipe makes a small amount, but it can be doubled, tripled or quadrupled.
*Note: A candy thermometer is needed for this recipe.

1/3 cup light corn syrup

Begin by greasing the surface of a large metal cookie sheet with shortening. Set aside.
Next, add granulated sugar to a 1 or 2 quart saucepan.
Then add water.
And finally, add the corn syrup.
Cook sugary mixture over medium-high heat, stir constantly until sugar is dissolved and mixture is boiling.
Once mixture has reached 300 degrees on a candy thermometer, it has reached the "hard crack" stage. If you'd like to color your glass, this would be the time to add a few drops of coloring (not too much or your glass will be too dark and will become opaque), you may also add any candy flavorings of your choice, if desired. Immediately remove mixture from heat and pour over greased cookie sheet.
Allow hard candy to cool completely on cookie sheet. Once mixture has cooled, pieces can be gently removed if large pieces are desired, or cookie sheet can be firmly banged on a countertop to crack the candy into smaller pieces
And there you have it! Hope you enjoy!!
