For those of you in the U.S., you may be aware of the massive flour recall. And if you've been wondering what to do to make recipes such as Cookie Dough Frosting a little safer, well, I'm going to share the method I use to pasteurize raw flour at home. I also have included several links to articles on the FDA's website to help provide as much helpful information as possible. And please understand that this is for informational purposes ONLY! If you decide to try this method out yourself, you will be doing so at your own risk!! Many factors play into how successful or unsuccessful this method will be (such as type of microwave used, amount of flour, etc), and results will vary! E.coli is potentially deadly, and therefore consuming any raw flour (even after pasteurizing) has the potential to cause life-threatening illness! Use this information at your own risk. Also, raw cookie dough treats should never contain raw eggs!!
